Junior Rangers

We had 8 children (ages 7-12) participate in our Jr. Ranger Program 2014. Of those 8, 4 kids completed at least 8 hours of programming which allowed them to graduate and receive full Jr. Ranger status. There were 15 children (ages 4-6) who participated in our Little Ranger Program 2014. None of these were able to attend all 4 sessions and reach the status of Little Ranger, so they are Little Naturalists.

The Jr. Ranger graduates received their certificates, along with patches and badges, as official Jr. Rangers during a graduation ceremony held on Sunday, August 17th at the Discovery Center in the Park. After posing for a group photo with the Park Interpreter, the new Jr. Rangers & their families moved to the beach area for swimming & fun.

At one of the weekly sessions, “Our Scale-y Friends” a wildlife presenter, Nell Fredericksen, and her daughter Lily came to the park and presented a program on reptiles. They had live specimens of turtles and snakes, as well as specimens of toads & salamanders, to show the difference between amphibians & reptiles.
